Ismael Garcia likes living in the Valley because of the calm peaceful environment and slow pace of life but also reflects on the needs of the community. He speaks of a need resources and enrichment for the local children’s education. He also mentions and a lack of jobs and opportunities for young people. “There is not a lot of work besides the fields. Younger people are studying in college and then have to leave to get a job because it’s far to drive for work to any other place, so you end up leaving”. He notes the need for change, the resistance to change and the inevitability of change. He thinks that one thing that might be helpful would be more community events where people can get together. He thinks that that this might spark participation in civic life and in this way people might become involved in the decision-making process to move the town forward.
